The sixth annual Almost Heaven Trail Race was held on Saturday, July 24th at the St. Albans City Park. The race began at 8:00 a.m. with nearly 140 people registered for the event that circles the hill sides that encompass the Park.
The course challenged the runners as it covered the primarily single-track trails throughout the St. Albans Park. Sunny skies and cooler than normal temperatures led to faster times for this year’s event. This was the first of the four race St. Albans series and helped prepare the runners for the remaining races in the summer and fall.
The first finisher was Jonathan Fee with a time of 22:35. The first female finisher was Abigail Torman who completed the course in 28:51.
The proceeds of this event benefit the Almost Heaven Scholarship Fund which recently issued 3 scholarships to West Virginia High School graduates who will be attending college in this state.
